There’s a castle in Brisbane, and it’s for sale for the first time ever

By Demi Treloar

A SUBURBAN castle in Brisbane has hit the open market for the first time — complete with a wine cellar that’s bigger than most apartments and parking for a dozen cars.

More Portuguese-style castle than “casa”, it has a touch of Roman villa about it too, with the agent Zac Muller of Ray White — Albion describing it as “one of its kind in Australia”.

The grand home — located at 2 Lunar Place, Bridgeman Downs — has six large bedrooms, five bathrooms and stands out in a suburb that’s full of luxury homes.

“It’s an amazing property,” Mr Muller told The Courier-Mail. “(The owner) built it himself in the 90s and it’s all Portuguese marble and granite, beautiful columns, views … It’s like a hotel. It is a castle. It’s just amazing. There’s nothing like it anywhere.”

The home had a “massive floorplan” across four levels allowing for multiple open plan living spaces, a designer kitchen made of Brazilian mahogany, a library, a built-in bar for entertaining, a laundry, a 110sq m wine cellar: All allowing for a touch of European grandeur in Brisbane.

“From soaring ceilings to imported materials and ornate features, this is a property perfectly suited to those who prefer the finer things in life,” was how Mr Muller was marketing it.

“From the grand, sweeping staircase to the stately picture windows and arched window tops, the timber creates a beautiful contrast against the cool, sleek floors and crisp colour palette of the walls and columns.”

To top it all off, the large rooftop has been turned into a terrace where you can stargaze the night away or just enjoy the views.
